How's Today? is a communication tool, not a medical device. We use your Personal Data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

- Device: Any device that can access the Service such as a smartphone or tablet.

- Service Provider (Data Processor): Any legal person who processes data on behalf of the Company, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Expo.

Types of Data Collected
Personal Data: While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with:
- Email address
- Phone number (optional)
- First name and last name
Usage Data: Collected automatically (IP address, device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers for push notifications).
Health-Related Communication Data: We collect the status updates you select (e.g., energy levels, mood, or "needs").
Note on Sensitive Data: While we do not ask for clinical medical records, the information you share regarding your daily condition may be considered "health-related" or "sensitive" under certain laws (like GDPR). By inputting this data to share with your caregiver, you explicitly consent to our processing of this information for communication purposes.
Push Notifications & Connection Logic
When you enable push notifications, we collect a unique device identifier (Push Token). We use this to broadcast status updates to users you have connected with via a Patient Code.
Push notifications are only enabled if you provide permission through your device's native permission prompts. You may disconnect or opt-out of these notifications at any time via the App UI or your device settings.
You are responsible for the security of your Patient Code. Sharing this code allows others to view your status updates.
3. How We Use and Share Your Data
We use your data to:
- Manage Your Account: To identify you and secure your access.
- Facilitate Connections: To link users via Patient Codes.
- Send Notifications: Sending push notifications to your connected Caregivers via Expo.
- Secure Storage: All data is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties or advertisers. We share your information with third-party Service Providers (AWS and Expo) only to the extent necessary for them to provide hosting and notification services. These providers are contractually obligated not to disclose or use your information for any other purpose.
This app is not intended to provide medical advice or diagnosis. All status updates are for informational purposes only.
4. Medical Disclaimer
How's Today? is not a medical provider. Our Service is for communication and informational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
We do not monitor your status updates for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis includes:
- Contractual Necessity: We need your email/phone to provide the account.
- Explicit Consent: For the processing of health-related status updates and push notifications via system prompts.
6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Regardless of your location, you have the following rights:
- Right to Access: You may request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to Deletion: You may request the deletion of your data at any time. We provide a functional 'Delete Account' option directly within the App Settings. Once triggered, this will permanently remove your account and all associated personal data from our active databases.
- Right to Rectification: You can update your info at any time in the App.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. Under the CCPA, you have the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal info, and we confirm that no such sale occurs.
7. Security of Your Data
The security of your Personal Data is important to us. We use industry-standard encryption and secure protocols provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to protect your data.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
8. Retention and Transfer
We retain your data only as long as your account is active. Your data is processed and stored on AWS servers in the United States.
By using the service, you consent to this transfer. We take steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy regardless of where it is processed.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover a child under 13 has provided us with data, we will delete it immediately.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
